Job Description:Job Title: Security Staff/Driver – Positive Changes Scope of Position: Position is responsible for promoting and sustaining the safety of students and employees primarily at various program locations. Position assists the administrative staff with enforcing policies and procedures for safe and orderly program at the building level. Position requires transporting students, family members or staff to various program locations using agency vehicles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, as well as performance of other work related duties as assigned: 1. Monitors the cafeteria, bus areas, hallways, restrooms, group rooms and other assigned areas of the program buildings during program hours to deter and control undesirable actions.2. Patrols parking lots and grounds to detect unauthorized persons or vehicles and to identify any suspicious activities.3. Assists administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations.4. Identifies, apprehends, and detains unauthorized persons who may be in the building or on program grounds.5. Notifies the administrative staff, police, fire department, or other appropriate authorities of security or emergency situations requiring immediate attention.6. Controls disruptive situations on the premises.7. Investigates law violations and other disciplinary incidents at program sites, which may include vandalism, drugs, and theft and major disturbances.8. Works cooperatively with school administrators and law enforcement officials in handling serious offenses and law violations.9. Testifies in court and at School Board Discipline Committee Hearings as required.10. Assists with fire drills and other emergency building evacuations.11. Supervises group room behavior, as needed, when the instructor must temporarily leave the classroom.12. Transports students, family members and staff to and from activities using an agency owned vehicle.13. Monitors vehicle service needs and reports needs to Maintenance Supervisor14. Maintains transportation vehicle logs.15. Maintains security records, logs and reports.Skills RequiredSome related security experience in a public school setting preferred. Completion of some courses in the area of security, crowd management, non-crisis intervention, or law enforcement preferred. Must possess knowledge of, and the ability to practically apply, standard security procedures and practices. Must possess the ability to acquire knowledge of agency policies and procedures relating to security functions and Client Rights and. Responsibilities. Must possess the ability to maintain accurate security records and reports. Must possess excellent human relations skills.
